APC/PCS Team Lead in US, TX, Channelview North, United States


The Advanced Process Control and Process Control Systems Team Lead, provides guidance, mentoring, and direction for a team of process control engineers and specialists to provide automation systems and process control engineering expertise supporting Channelviews operations and project teams.  Responsibilities: Set clear goals for assigned team members. Mentor and coach team members based on observations and feedback. Direct team involvement in identification of improvement opportunities and manage the work scope and support implementation. Ensure team members, other employees and contractors comply with site safety policies and procedures to achieve GoalZERO. Manage team member resources to participate in Operations Excellence and Process Safety Management activities (PHAs, MOCs, etc.), Engineering, Turnarounds, and Projects. Monitor team performance and workload to ensure site performance metrics are met (controls, DMC, alarms, etc.). Recommend actions to maintain optimum performance of DMC controllers, focusing on defect elimination and long range planning. Manage timely completion of team member assigned action items and/or defined data submissions; participate in review and extension meetings. Work closely with other departments to ensure all work activities are implemented in an efficient and cost effective manner. Partner with manufacturing and/or business contacts to develop and implement plans to maximize revenues then adjust plans as conditions warrant. Drives alignment of plant-wide operating strategy, control applications, and multivariable controller strategies and limitations. Facilitate team member development of and completion of Performance Appraisal Documents, and Individual Development Plans. Assures up-to-date documentation applicable to advanced process control and process control systems. Collaborate with Process Control Engineers, Specialists and SMEs in developing and managing implementation of best practices and long-range plans (APC, DCS, Alarm management, and other site initiatives). Represent the Control Systems Engineering team as the first point of contact for Projects and Turnarounds in the definition and scope-development stages and delegate responsibilities to APC/PCS team members as appropriate. Provide troubleshooting, problem-solving, and backup operational support to assigned team. Facilitate development of  long-term strategy for Control Systems and Automation. Qualifications: Bachelors degree in an engineering discipline Minimum of 6 years of petrochemical manufacturing, engineering experience Ability to work across multi-disciplinary teams and interact with all levels of the organization Knowledge and experience with distributed control systems Knowledge and experience with multivariable controls Excellent computing and process automation skills Excellent influencing and communication skills Strong leadership and organizational skills Self-motivation and high initiative Innovative thinking to solve complex process issues Advanced technical understanding of hydrocarbon processing Ability to identify and leverage employees strengths and development opportunities LyondellBasell (NYSE: LYB) is one of the worlds largest plastics, chemical  and refining companies and a member of the S&P 500.
