MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB To supervise the activities of a shift team to optimize operations in accordance with predetermined procedures, programmes and standards. JOB OBJECTIVES: Supervises and controls the activities and standards of performance and behaviour of designated subordinate staff. Achieves set production / maintenance targets. Maintains and maximizes plant / equipment availability. Initiates and co-ordinates the necessary resources and activities required for plant breakdowns. Operates specialized equipment. Maintains and improves safety, health and environmental standards and practices. Performs fair and reasonable tasks related to the job and working environment, at the discretion of the Supervisor. OUTPUTS: Effective shift changeover. Optimal use and availability of plant / equipment / resources. Safe, healthy work environment and practices. Checks / tests / inspections. Functional plant. Properly completed and processed documentation. Clean equipment and work area.   MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Grade 12 with Maths, Science and English. A minimum of 5 years production / mobile equipment experience, with at least 2 years proven supervisory experience will be an advantage. Heavy mobile equipment driver’s license will be an advantage. Exposure and experience working with pumps and modular dredge will be an added advantage TECHNICAL SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES: All plant related modules dredger, concentrator and shore services completed. The ability to coach and maintain a trained competent team. Compliance with Human Physical Specification (HPS) for driving heavy mobile equipment. Sound communication and report writing skills. Sound judgement, reasoning and decision-making skills. Computer literacy. Cost control.
